Arsenal is expected to close the deal soon, returning with an improved offer for Valencia defender Christian Mosquera.
That’s according to Charles Watts in his latest exclusive column Catch off sidea journalist explains his understanding of the situation.
The story broke a bit from blue, but Watts says he’s known about his interest in Mosquera for a while, in a rather tentative link he’s been on a date quite some time ago.
Still, Arsenal appears to have moved quickly with the Spanish centre-back to agree to terms, and now it appears that the deal is expected to close quickly.

Discuss his weekly transfer of Mosquera Catch off side In his column, Watts said:
“There was a temporary link a while ago, but nothing was too serious, and suddenly the offer was made for the defender.
“At the time of writing this column, there is no agreement between the defenders between Arsenal and Valencia. Arsenal’s opening offer was rejected.
“Arsenal is expected to return imminently with reports suggesting that bids have been improved and that personal terminology has already been agreed with Mosquera.
Arsenal adds defensive depth
Arsenal had injuries last season as both Gabriel Magalges and Ben White missed much of the season.

Still, it’s safe to say that Mikel Arteta already has more depth behind the rest of his team, so it’s probably a bit surprising to see this emerge as a priority.
