Shubman Gill defeats sensational 269 runs
The right-handed batter continued his good form from the first Test and looked great from the start on the second Test. He was totally calm, composed in the middle, winning 50 balls from 125 balls.
Shubman Gill was in full control while facing the English bowler, but he didn’t play many false shots. He completed the century from a 199 ball and finished the first day with an unbeaten 114 runs.
On the second day, Gill reached a historic two-century milestone with 150 runs marks and 311 balls with 263 balls. After hitting a double 100, Gill accelerated and quickly surpassed his 250 run score.
He seemed to easily win a tripleton, but that didn’t happen as he came out in a poor way, pulling the delivery straight from Josh’s tongue straight into Ollie Pope’s hand with square legs. Shubman Gill finished the innings, running 269 from 387 balls, finishing with 4 of 30 and three sixes.
Shubman Gill will be the first player in history…
Gill became twice as many players as both the fifth batter to achieve this feat at age 25, two centuries in both Test and ODI.
He also became the first Indian player to register a score of over 250 in the Test outside the subcontinent, passing Sachin Tendulkar’s 241, holding the record of the highest scores by the Indian captain and passing Virat Kohli’s 254*.
Gill is the sixth Indian player with a score of over 250 in the Test, registering India’s highest score in the Test in England, surpassing Sunilgavaskar’s 221.
