The LA Lakers are blessed with a talented roster, but one player stands out from the others with James’ worth.
The Los Angeles Lakers are doing a lot now. Ever since LeBron James chose the $52.6 million player option, the NBA world’s eyes have focused on what the Lakers will do next.
LeBron wants to compete for the NBA championship. This is what he wanted to be known by the Lakers front office and could build a roster accordingly.
Well, so far, the Lakers haven’t made much of a move this offseason. They actively refused to pay Dorian Finney Smith.
Lack of activity in the free agency market then cost them as the Lakers missed out on three of the targets they chose to sign with the other teams.
It’s getting hard to see which players the Lakers will sign. And given how highly James spoke about him, that’s a shame if they didn’t surround LeBron James with the right type of talent.
James Worthy spoke about LeBron James on the Lakeshow podcast. He acknowledged that James’ excellence was remarkable, even at this stage of his career.
Despite being 40 years old, James is still one of the most conditioned athletes in the NBA and is excellent at the highest level.
“I’m going to know that LeBron is not human. He’s an alien. With the wear and tears of travel, this is what he can do in this game.
“I know everything has improved and they’ve got a better trainer, but I don’t mind. Still, to put in a few minutes of that type and play with the type of power he plays… I’m finished in my 13th year.
“He makes it fun. He never stops working out. He has broken old formulas for his longevity. He continues to surprise him that he can control. He has dominated the last few years.
“He loves the game and I don’t have that word to see him yet.”
Due to all the glow LeBron James exhibited in the final years of his career, the Lakers did nothing to capitalize on his greatness.
The Lakers are hoping to surround James with a mediocre team forever and combine him with the All-Stars and do all his work.
Rob Perinka is a coach running as president of the Lakers and is not trying to build a competing roster to prevent the franchise from coming future after James’ decision to retire.
In doing so, he wasted the last year of one of the greatest players in NBA history. If Pelinka actively recruits players, imagine the number of championships the Lakers have.
