Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins was able to sell at a reasonable price this summer due to his tense relationship with manager Unai Emery.
The 29-year-old has been an essential asset to Aston Villa for many years and it will be interesting to see if the club is willing to pay him a substantial amount.
Ian Darke believes West Midlands Club can demand around £60 million from England International. He is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the country. He would be a great acquisition for most teams. However, Aston Villas must be more reasonable at their request.
The striker returned 30 in December, and the club doesn’t want to pay his odds.
Will Ollie Watkins go ahead?
Dark told Villa News:
“If Watkins goes, it’s not the biggest shock in the world looking out from the outside.
“You might say the villa costs £60 million, but in the end, these transactions are done in such a complicated way as the way the transactions are built can avoid problems.”
Watkins’ exit is hurt
Watkins has proven himself in the Premier League for many years, and there’s no doubt that he’s enough for the top club. He aims to join a competitive team that can compete for the trophy. It’s not yet known where he will end.
Meanwhile, Ashton would have been overly dependent on him for his goal. It would be interesting to see if they could properly replace him. They have a competitive team, and they hope to seek European qualifications next season. You can’t do that without a reliable scorer. If Watkins leaves the club in the summer, they need a quality player to fill in the blank he left behind.
It is still unknown who they will become.
