The Los Angeles Lakers are a franchise with little tolerance for failure, even from head coaches.

In recent memory, the La Lakers fired Durbin Hamm two seasons later, but reached the Western Conference Finals in one season.

Even in the previous season, the Lakers did the same thing. This list does not include current New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown.

In fact, renowned NBA insider Shamscharania dropped signs of unsatisfactory tenure for the Lakers and Brown in 2011.

Before joining the Lakers, Brown had five years of head coaching experience with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, in 2010, Brown was fired by the Cavaliers for failing to lead the team to the NBA Finals in the LBJ.

Obviously, it was a huge stain on the head coach’s resume, and it definitely disrupts a lot when the Lakers hired Brown to replace anyone other than the legendary Phil Jackson.

“I’ll see if Mike Brown, the Lakers, is a good job, but if I was Kobe Bryant, I’d just reported me.

Brown’s employment was questioned even before coaching a single game for the Lakers. Now, in hindsight, Charania’s Takedown has proven to be correct.

When Brown arrived in LA, the Lakers still had Kobe Bryant as their main superstar. Certainly, the Lakers faced second round elimination in the 2011 playoffs, but don’t forget they won back-to-back NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.

So when Jackson resigned as the team’s head coach in 2011, it should have been difficult to find a strong person to replace him. The Lakers believed Brown was the one, but the move ultimately backfired.

His first season with the Lakers was still decent as the team finished with a 41-25 record as the third seed of the West. However, the Lakers were sent home in the second round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

However, the Lakers were prepared in the summer of 2012 by adding Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. Obviously, the expectations from the Lakers were to win it all.

in fact? The organization began the season with a terrible 1-4 record under Brown. As a result, the Lakers didn’t think twice before firing Brown. This is the brown that was stolen for the second time in just two years.

Fast forward to 2025, the Knicks have faith in Coach Brown. But if history is any indication, the Knicks fanbase should not raise hopes high when they arrive in New York.
