Michael Kopech only lasted seven innings before landing back on his 15-day injury list with a new issue.
Kopech began the season with the IL in dealing with a right shoulder collision. He completed his rehabilitation assignment with Triple A Oklahoma City and returned from 60 days on June 7th.
In his eight appearances in 2025, Kopech didn’t allow him to run and only gave up three hits.

The Los Angeles returned Kopech back to IL on July 1st due to inflammation in his right knee. A scan of his knee showed inflammation and Kopek received a cortisone injection.
The right-handed relief pitcher didn’t seem too concerned about the severity of his injuries. Before Tuesday’s game against his former team, the Chicago White Sox, he feels the injury more discomfort than pain, but according to the Los Angeles Times, he doesn’t know why it caused the problem.
manager Dave Roberts added that the injury is short-term, but there is no specific timeline as to when Kopech will return.
Los Angeles acquired Kopek at trade deadline last season on a three-team deal, including the White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to Kopech, the received utility man Tommy Edman and right-handed pitcher Oliver Gonzalez from the Cardinals.
Kopech and Edman appeared as a key part of the ‘ roster during the postseason, winning their first World Series last season.
Kopech recorded an ERA of 3.00 in nine innings, allowing three runs and five hits in 10 appearances. The relied heavily on saviors like the bullpen Kopek, but their spinning struggled with some injuries.
Edman was one of Los Angeles’ best batsmen during the postseason and was named the most valuable player in the NL Championship Series. This season he finished as runner-up in the second-base starting spot for the NL All-Star team.
The landed two shocking additions on the roster at the final trade deadline, allowing them to find similar talent at the trading deadline this season.
