Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation of Benfica playmaker Orkun Kokcu amid interest in the transfer from Liverpool.
As Catch off side Recently reported, Kokcu has attracted a lot of interest as he is able to leave Benfica this summer.
Our sources say that Besiktas could be among his suitors, and Koku also wanted Galatasaray and Fenerbafe in his home country of Turkey.
Liverpool was also informed that he was keen on the cocks. The players themselves knew they were leaning towards reunion with former manager Arne Slot.
Will Liverpool miss out on Orkun Kokuka’s transfer?
However, Fabrizio Romano currently posts the following on X, and it appears that Besikos is bolstering his efforts to win the race for the 24-year-old’s signature…
Romano said: “Orkun Kokka has informed Benfica of his desires. He wants to join Besikutas, as the club has already discussed the details of the move.
Perhaps he wasn’t Liverpool’s preferred target target this summer as things seem to be going well as Kokcu moves to Besiktas.
Liverpool doesn’t need a cock – they already have good options in the midfield
To be fair, it’s hard to see how players were playing regular first team roles on this Reds’ side, even if slots and cocks were mutually grateful for each other.
Turkey International has enough quality, but perhaps not enough to establish himself as a starter in front of similarly creative midfield players like Dominique Sobosilai and Alexis Mac Alistair on this LFC team.
Still, it will be interesting to see how Kokcu continues to develop, as I imagine he might have to appear in the Top Premier League club at some point in the future.
