After his Summer League debut became inactive, Cooper Flag bouncing off with a massive performance. The Dallas Mavericks’ precious rookie solidified himself in a 31-point match against the San Antonio Spurs.

As a number one overall pick, the Cooper Flag is the biggest attraction of the 2025 NBA Summer League. All eyes were on him, leading to disappointment due to the lack of his debut. He scored 10 points, 21-6 from the field.

It urged Mark Cuban, the former Dallas Maverick majority owner, to urge patience. Thankfully, people didn’t have to wait that long, as Flag had outstanding performances in his second game.

Flaggg scored 31 points, grabbed four rebounds and scored a block in his second game. Unfortunately, the Mavericks lost the game, but the valuable rookie is good night.

Flag was pleased with his performance during his second game. However, it caused the San Antonio Spurs to lose 7 points. It was a promising game, but Flag felt he wasn’t making enough free throws.

Flag made eight of his 13 free throws. This was about 61%. That’s not what he wants to see in a free throw. Especially since they lost 7 points. If he had made all the free throws, the Mavericks would have only been down two.

“I just trust all the work, I took lots of the same shots, trusted them, and today I get a little better.

“I still missed a lot of free throws and I don’t think my mother was happy with it,” Flag told the media after his second match.

It was a well-balanced performance other than his free throw as Flag rebounded and defended. Even as a playmaker, he put out four assists to help the Mavericks offense. Coach Jason Kidd loves the youth game, so Kidd sees him play a role in moving forward on a potential point.

Flags are just rookies, so there’s plenty of room to grow. It is challenging to keep his empty expectations. He’s still a rookie, but this is a summer league so he can perform badly.

Of course, Flagg doesn’t love it, but it’s part of the learning process of all young players. As long as he maintains his chin, he will have a great career before him. Flag learned from his mistakes, as demonstrated by his performance against San Antonio.

Cooper Flag dropped an efficient 30 for an 18-year-old.

Imagine what he would do next to AD and KY as the third option.

He received all sorts of criticism in the summer league, including suggestions for tackling jump shots. Players are constantly facing scrutiny, but that’s double-important for a #1 overall pick like Flagg. The former Duke Blue Devil must be ready for this, as pressure is put on top players.
