Chelsea are aiming to become tonight’s world champion, and they are on the course after scoring twice in a row against PSG in the Club World Cup final in New York City.
Chelsea is considered the underdog of the match, and PSG is all conquered in this competition and Europe. Their own supporters are afraid of the contest, but so far they have little to worry about.
That’s because the very bright Enzo Maresca side on the opening stage in New York is 2-0 with the European champions in 22 minutes.
Cole Palmer fires Chelsea ahead against PSG
Nunomendes, who has become a standout for PSG for the past 12 months, made an uncharacteristic error by allowing Malogsto to move forward, blocking the shot, then returned the ball to Cole Palmer, finding a corner out of reach of Gian Louis Donnarumma.
Palmer’s final months weren’t easy in front of goal, but it’s a glorious moment for him. It was his 17th time of his season in all competitions, and incredibly, No. 18 will soon follow.
Palmer grabs him and Chelsea’s 30 minute mark
Eight minutes after winning the Chelsea opener, Palmer attacked again. And again, it went to the left of the PSG. The British were picked up on the right wing and then ended in a similar way to his initial efforts.
Maresca would not have been able to ask for a better opening of 30 minutes on so many of his sides on the course to become a world champion. However, it’s not over, so within an hour you can now rebound from Luis Enrique’s PSG side during a full-time whistle. But for now, Chelsea is relatively comfortable.
