Scotland was just too strong for Samoa as they completed their three-match Pacific Tour with a comprehensive 41-12 victory in Tests at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.

The Scots have played the two seven times in the tour in Australia, with the British and Irish Lions and nine players in Samoa, with Ewan Ashman, Rory Hutchinson, Aron Reed, Kyle Steen, Grant Gilchrist, Kyle Lowe and George Turner all reaching. Fergus Burke put two transformations and one George Horn.

Benjamin Petaiah Nee and Duncan Paiauaua recorded their attempts towards Samoa.

The four-man attempted first half allowed Scotland to enjoy a healthy 22-0 lead with a break.

His clever kick after eight minutes won the lineout and set the mall afterwards, and in Ashman’s first attempt, Prop Proly Sutherland flew to Australia on Sunday to join the Lions as forward cover.

Five minutes later, Hutchinson’s attempt saw Scotland go up again in the 31st minute with a clever tip from the Samoa defense by centre partner Stafford McDowall.

Another kick from Dobby beat Scotland at a lineout near the Tri-line in Samoa. From there a series of long passes found space for Stain to run to the opposite wing.

Scotland continued scoring five minutes into the second half through Gilchrist, but a rare mistake in defense later allowed Samoa Rock Knee Nee to intercept near the line to cross over the first score.

The spectacular dive at the corner of the Lowe at 55 minutes continued to command the tourists, but five minutes later the centre Paiaua, free from the weary Scottish tackler, got Samoa’s second attempt.

However, Scotland ended the game with another display of forward power, with Turner pushing away the final attempt from three minutes

They started their tour in New Zealand and won the Maori All Blacks, but lost in Fiji last weekend.

Samoa, which had six debutants in the starting lineup, including former England International Jacob Umaga, played in New Zealand as the stadium in Apia is undergoing renovations.
