Alex Marquez says when he crashed in the 12th and defeated Joan Mir at Brno’s Czech Motogup, he “just try to calculate the next lap move.”
Eighth qualifying Marquez was trying to make up for the ground early in the race when he folded the front on the second lap of Brnolap’s penultimate Chicane.
From the outside, it seemed that the overtaking attempt had failed, but the Gresini racing rider explained that he was trying to evaluate the pass with the view that he would do it on the next lap after the race.
“When you make a mistake, you need to accept everything,” Alex Marquez told Motogp.com after a race in the Czech Republic.
“I was trying to calculate the next lap movement, so I was about to go halfway through.
“I got too deep, lost the front line and caused him to crash.
“I’m sorry to him and his team.
“We created that situation with a qualifying mistake starting from behind.
“This is a weekend and you have to give them experiences for the future, and once you start from behind, you need to settle down.
“It’s true that we’re not used to starting from the back position. Today, I’m at the right moment (don’t do things).
“Sorry. We need to go ahead and return to Austria in a better way.”
Joan Mir: “Four or five times someone touched me.”

Joan me
Whatever Marquez moved inwards on lap 2, it marked the end of Joanne Mir’s race. Joan Mir was ruined on the first lap when he ran for a long time trying to avoid Johann Zarko.
The Honda HRC rider said he felt “four or five” contacts on lap 2 before he got along with him on gravel.
“I knew Alex (Marquez) was late,” Mir told Motogp.com.
“But on that lap, someone touched me from behind four or five times, but they couldn’t make the move.
“Then, in that chikane, I felt the bike crash into itself.
“I went to gravel and crashed, and that’s what happened.
“I can say what I feel, but I can’t say what actually happened.
“I was obviously angry. He was angry for some reason.
“In the end, it ended with one of the apology. That’s the reality.”
Marquez maintained his second place position in the post-race MotoGP Championship, but is now 120 points behind Mark Marquez, with his advantage trimmed to 48 points over Francesco Bagnaia.
For Mir, it was his eighth retirement from the 2025 Opening 12 Grand Prix.
