Max Verstappen says he is “looking forward to” working with new Red Bull boss Laurent Mekies as his team embarks on a new era.

During the two-week gap between the UK and Belgian race, Red Bull announced it had parted ways with Christian Horner.

Horner has been the Red Bull boss since the team’s start in 2005, overseeing title success with Sebastian Vettel and most recently Verstappen.

Mekies was quickly announced as his successor.

Mekies has F1 experience, ranging from her role at Ferrari to Fia and Racing Bulls.

The 48-year-old will be tasked with turning Red Bull’s recent form as the team is trying to hold Verstappen for next season.

Verstappen is frequently linked to the switch to Mercedes, with discussions underway.

Advances this weekend’s trip to Spa Franco Champ, Verstappen said:

“There’s always been a lot of support in Belgium from the Orange Army, and that’s like a second home race for me, so I’m coming back wearing an orange lion helmet and my special cap and boots.”

The spa has been a happy hunting ground in Verstappen for many years.

He took a winning hat trick between 2021 and 2023.

Verstappen added: “The spa is classic and has always been my favorite track on the calendar. It’s a very old school circuit where you have to do everything right to get a good rap.

“I enjoy high-speed corners like the EAU Rouge, different layouts from other circuits, and layouts that make the track more challenging. Silverstone wasn’t our best performance, but it was a promising step to put it on the pole in qualifying.”

Yuki Tsunoda needs great results following another set-off at the UK Grand Prix.

After a heated race, Tsunoda finished the finale of the finisher classified as Silverstone.

Looking forward to this weekend, Tsunoda said: “I took a break from the race between using training and rest to mentally reset, and I wanted to get into the spa and be in a better state both mentally and physically.

“I’m strong and sharp, looking forward to these next two races before summer holidays. We’re in this race in a new era of our team. It’s good to link with Laurent again. We worked really well with the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.

“I know how he wants to work, and our full focus is to move forward and start offering the performance I personally need. The spa is a fun circuit, and the sprints always make things tricky, but the work and preparation I did this off-time will go well.”
