This offseason has been filled with rumours about LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Rumors began to flood after LeBron James chose the $52.6 million player option alongside the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2025-26 NBA season.
The 4X NBA champion was criticized for not allowing the Lakers to enter Win-Now mode due to his large salary. Obviously, many trade rumors surround the 40-year-old.
Plus, there was a recent Instagram post by the agent of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

Most interpreted the now-deleted post as a subtle hint about James leaving LA next summer and joining forces with the Joker.
However, NBA analyst Nick Wright recently insisted that he had no support for these rumors.
“I can report clearly. This tweet or caption, the caption on Instagram was my thoughts about LeBron, who will play for the Denver Nuggets next year.
He added: “There’s a possibility that LeBron will be with the Nuggets a year from now, and that’s not my opinion.”
The potential duo of James and Jokic sounds like a dream pairing, but Wright is very sure that fans will not be next season, at least in Denver.
Assuming James doesn’t join the Nuggets, it’s still questionable whether the King will return to the Lakers beyond the 2025-26 NBA season.
After all, the Lakers shifted their focus to Luka Donsic as the 26-year-old is expected to sign a long-term contract extension with the organization soon.
So, what does that mean for LBJ’s future? Now, according to Mark Stein, the Lakers are expected to let James walk next summer.
Over the past seven seasons, James has averaged 26.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game for the team. He also led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA Championship.
