Leeds United’s return to the Premier League will be supported by a bold recruiting drive, and one of their top offensive targets is Fiorentina winger Ricardo Sottil, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, according to a report by Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.
The Yorkshire Club is exploring the possibility of bringing the 26-year-old to Elland Road as manager Daniel Fark aims to add more quality and depth to his team, especially in offensive and creative positions.
Sottil, a product of Fiorentina’s Academy, was once considered a rising star in Italian football. However, despite making his first team debut in 2018, Winger has struggled to ensure a consistent role in Florence.
Leeds United wants Italian player Ricardo Sottil
His development has been largely shaped by a series of loan spells in Serie A. These include stints with Cagliari, Empori and more recently AC Milan, who spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
His time at San Silo was short, but Sottil appeared in eight times, giving him a glimpse into his potential. However, these flashes were not enough to convince Milan to enable permanent purchases, and then the winger returned to Fiorentina.
The Italian side wants a permanent transfer of players
With his current contract remaining just two years, and Fiorentina reportedly ready to break up with the player, Leeds watches the opening to make the deal.
Italian clubs are believed to support permanent transfers, but are open to other loans if necessary.
Leeds United’s goal is clear, and it’s to target players with a top flight experience, but they’re still looking for a consistent platform to thrive.
Farke is said to be a admirer of Sottil’s playing style and considers him a potential X-factor.
Leeds Star has reached an agreement to leave the club soon
