The Los Angeles have acquired outfielder Alex Cole from the Washington Nationals, according to ESPN’s Jeff Pasan.

Who is Alex Cole?
Cole, 30, is able to play all three outfield spots and has had a solid year in Washington, hitting .274 with three home runs, 26 RBI and .756 on OPS.
The call remains a prerequisite and will be team controlled until 2030. He will effectively be replaced by James Outman, who was traded with the Minnesota Twins, as a LA depth looker.
Cole was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He was traded to Cleveland in 2018 and joined Washington in 2022 from exemption. There he developed into a serviceable major league player.
In MLB’s 277 career games, Cole cuts .242/.342/.369 with 19 home runs, 91 RBI and OPS with .712. His career OPS+ is above the league average for the 102-year-old.
Cole is particularly strong against left-handed pitching, cutting .314/.359/.443 with an OPS of .802 in 38 games this season. He was able to play the ‘ main role as an outfielder against left-handed pitching with Kique Hernandez, who was on the sidelines in the near future.

The are trading right-handed pitching prospects Erik Swann and Sean Paul Linan for Washington. Swann is the team’s 16th place prospect per MLB pipeline, while Linan is 20th place.
