The Los Angeles have surprised many at the quiet trade deadline, but there are some reassurances who could add ahead of the final stretch of the season.
Right-handed Joe Kelly is currently a free agent and recently pitched for the . The team is seeking bullpen help for the final stretch of the season.

Doug McKain of Nation spoke to MLB insider Bob Nightengale about what Kelly means to the team.
“They did,” Knight Engale said. “It’s like Quique Hernandez. They’re good in October. Many scouts say, “Yeah, I’m going to sign a one-month deal with Joe Kelly. That’s good for the depths he knows what he’s left behind.”
Kelly only allowed one run to be scored in 11.1 innings of postseason work during the 2018 Boston Red Sox World Series run, allowing one run over the 2020 ‘ October 3.2 innings.
Night Engale said that even if Kelly doesn’t make a postseason roster, he is still a valuable asset and can throw in quality innings for the . This is similar to his role last year, with 35 appearances in LA and not thrown into the postseason.
Before the 3pm deadline on Thursday, one of the ‘ two acquisitions was bailout Brock Stewart, but Kelly will be the perfect candidate to bolster the pitching roster that has been hampered by injuries throughout 2025.

Kelly doesn’t play professionally, but still around the game as manager of his son’s youth team, but hopes that the remains of his average fastball speed average from 2024 are still there.
