It has been officially confirmed that 34-year-old Indian national cricket team star-pace Mohamed Shami has made a comeback to competitive cricket.
Mohammed Shami will be featured in Duleep Trophy 2025 as it is included in the East Zone Squad, led by Ishan Kishan.

Mohamed Shami is seen acting for the East Zone
Duleep Trophy 2025 is scheduled to start on August 28th, with the final of the contest being held on September 11th. Mohamed Shami works from the first game as the East Zone locks the horn in the North Zone.
Shami will perform under the leadership of star wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan on a team of 15. He last acted in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, but his last first class game came to Bengal in November 2024 with the Ranji Trophy.
Mohammed Shami was purchased for $10 trillion at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, he was unable to justify his price tag and received a horrifying campaign.
He played nine games with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and bagged just six wickets with an average of 56.16, economy 11.23 and strike rate of 30.0.
Shami recently missed out on the choice of India England 2025 as she felt that the BCCI was not healthy enough to handle the workloads of Test cricket.
He may be in the 2025 Asian Cup contest and is about to prove his fitness at the Durep Trophy in order to return to the radar of the selectors of the Continental Tournament.

Duleep Trophy 2025 will play in Zonal format, with the zone selector selecting the team. The East Zone team was selected by Arokendu Rahiri of Bengal, Abakash Katua of Odisha, Sunil Kumar Singh of Bihar, Manish Wardan of Jharkhand, Summit Ranja Das of Assam and Upananda Debarma of Tripura.
Abhimanyu Easwaran has been appointed as vice captain of the East Zone team chosen by the selector. The veteran batsman is currently part of the Indian Test Team at the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
Meanwhile, Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and Riyan Parag are also part of the East Zone team, but Sudip Chatterjee is ignored.
Teen sense Vaiibhav Suryavanshi stayed in standby along with Sudip Kumar Gharami, Mukhtar Hussain, Aasirwad Swain, Swastik Samal and Rahul Singh.
