A year after the Indiana Pacers, Enrique Freeman signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was a free agent for a while until the Minnesota Timberwolves signed him as a two-way player.

The Minnesota Timberwolves signed a two-way contract with Enrique Freeman on Friday, August 1st. This was a big day for a 25 year old.

As a long-standing player, Freeman has been working hard for opportunities. He impressed the Timberwolves enough to win a two-way deal.

After losing Nickeil Alexander-Walker in free agency, Timberwolves is upgrading from inside. However, Timberwolves must add depth. Freeman isn’t the biggest name, but he does his best to help.

As a player on a two-way contract with the Pacers, Freeman has now started practicing with his amazing teammates. He was on the roster that embarked on a magical run to the NBA Finals. It has been a valuable experience for newcomers, especially since he worked with great veterans.

One of the veterans who stood out for Freeman was TJ McConnell. The small guard became famous during the playoffs, but he showed leadership. Freeman felt that he had learned a lot from Pacer during his years as a rookie with his toes barely submerged in water.

“One thing I’ve learned is the IQ of that game, the high level. It’s the peak format of basketball,” Freeman told RG Media.

“So I learned IQ, what it takes and fighting all the way to the end. That’s what I learned. I’ll never give up.”

“I’ve done a lot, I did well, so I’m grateful because I’ve been to the NBA Finals in my first year, so I’m really grateful. So I think that’s why I said that word.”

With Freeman playing for the Timberwolves, he will sign another two-way contract. Head coach Chris Finch loves to have hardworking players, so Freeman can go down his path to a spot in rotation. Because of the rise in Terrence Shannon Jr.’s rotation, it is challenging.

Shannon is the perfect player to replace Alexander Walker due to his explosive athletic ability. Jalen Clark also won for a few minutes with his energy and solid defense. The wings are strong, with Donte Divinsenzo in particular still serving as the main backup.

With the addition of Joan Beringer, Matt Lloyd pointed out that the wolves have one young player in every position…

Freeman is not the first option, but Finch is always open to new ideas. If he sees Freeman actually being good enough, that might be the key to getting a bigger role. It may even open new doors for a full-time contract, but in the meantime he is in two-way deals.

Playing for the Iowa Wolf is Freeman’s chance to shine. He has shown he is a strong player in the 2025 NBA Summer League. With that momentum, the future is bright for Freeman. Because he works hard to get more opportunities.
