Luka Doncic recently violated the future for the Los Angeles Lakers by signing a three-year, $165 million extension.
Doncic is also eligible to sign a record five-year, $417 million deal if it rejects a player option in 2028.
With the Superstar’s long-term future sorted, he can focus on bringing the Lakers to their 18th championship.
He’s wondering if that’s possible next season, but Donsic seems certain the roster around him is enough.
He recently said something about the Lakers team that reminds me of LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Donsic was bullish about the Lakers’ title chance at a press conference after signing a new deal in his favor.
The 26-year-old appears happy with the offseason acquisition of Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart.
The first thing was the comment that “loved” comment from the first critic Chris Bruthard, compared to Cavs compared to James a few years ago.
“I love the fact that he said, whether they do or not, they’re the top tier, Denver, Houston and I have them in that group.
“I think they have a lovely team. If you say that, I think Luka hasn’t felt that good enough, I think you are?” he should believe it.
“I talked to LeBron with Delont West, Ms Williams and those guys. He was like, ‘Guy, we have a team.’ He really believed they could win the championship.
Doncic will need to play at MVP level to ensure the Lakers are successful next season, but his teammates will also need to step up, so planting confidence in them is a wise move.
Donsic has often been criticized for being out of shape, but his recent imagery suggests that it is no longer the case.
Kendrick Perkins believes Doncic has “motivated” James with his body transformation, and urges James to remind everyone that he’s working hard.
“Luca Donsic motivated LeBron James,” Perkins said. “The photos and videos went viral on the internet and s___ suddenly came back to the lab and saw LeBron back in the lab.
“He’s always in the lab, but he had to post it and let it know. Let the world know that he’s in the lab.”
