Nick Wright believes that La Lakers have had issues in their hands despite Luka Doncic’s re-signment.
The Los Angeles Lakers spent their weekends and achieved one of their biggest offseason goals.
The Lakers have re-signed Luka Donsic to a $165 million contract. It was a big step for the Lakers as they kept future stars locked in for years to come.
Donsic also got a good shape and made the Lakers’ decision much easier when it came to re-signing the top star.
As Luka Doncic is ready to test his physique in Slovenia, there is a lot of optimism surrounding him and the Lakers as a whole.
However, Nick Wright believes there is one Nightmare scenario that Lakers fans haven’t spoken about, and he recently shed light on the situation.
Nick Wright talked about La Lakers on his podcast. He believes that in the next three years of Luka Donsic’s contract, he will not have a better teammate than LeBron James.
James is over 40, but he is still the best caliber superstar. Wright can imagine the Lakers landing a superstar of a caliber similar to LeBron James.
“My general Lakers have my general Lakers who couldn’t explain where I was wrong.
“Through these expansions, I think there’s a good chance that LeBron won’t have a better teammate for the next three years, than he is now.
“Listen now, maybe they’ll get Giannis, and I’m wrong. Maybe they’re turning to jokes, and I’m wrong, but Shy isn’t going anywhere.
“Tatum isn’t going anywhere, so there’s a shortage of people who are better than LeBron right now.
“So, if I were the Lakers, if I think it was last year with LeBron, I don’t know if Luka has a better running mate.”
The La Lakers may be lucky to have both LeBron James and Luca Donsic as the two best players. But the way they act, they may take LeBron for granted.
LeBron James has opted for the $52.6 million Lakers Player option. This was a sign that many people hadn’t reached the terms of the new deal.
The Lakers also didn’t inform LeBron of the sale to Mark Walter, but it’s surprising given that they gave Luka Donsic the right heads up.
Once things stand, the Lakers are ready to let James walk through the free agency. It’s hard to understand why they still try to give up on players who are among the best players in the world.
If they don’t want him to be a priority, that’s fine. But there is a measure of respect that players like LeBron demand as NBA superstars.
