Who is Rokas Jokubaitis? The New York Knicks' 2021 draft pick has not yet made their NBA debut

The New York Knicks have not achieved any successful NBA draft in recent years.

For most teams, drafting an elite outlook is the easiest way to finish the restructuring phase. However, teams like the New York Knicks have the ability to attract free agents in the offseason.

On the other hand, they could simply trade for a star. The Knicks use these two methods to build their current core, featuring players like Karl Anthony Towns, Jaren Branson and Mikal Bridges.

But drafting the outlook for the elite from time to time was not harmful. Unfortunately, the Knicks had little luck in that division, and Locas Jokvaitis is the perfect example of this.

Heading into the 2021 NBA Draft, the Knicks had four picks. The franchise ended up trading three of them, but they also acquired players drafted by another team.

It was nothing more than Rocas Jokvaitis who was originally selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder, who won his 34th overall pick in the draft.

But even with the Knicks making a choice, Jokbaitis sniffed the team in favor of play from America.

Certainly, he made sporadic appearances in the 2021 and 2024 NBA Summer League, but failed to impress the Knicks.

At the 24-year-old with a 6’4” frame, Jokubaitis could be a great backup point guard for the Knicks, but he continues to move away from the NBA.

So far, Lithuanian security guards have spent his entire career outside the United States. He averaged 7.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in the process.

Assume Jokubaitis will eventually reach the NBA and acquire the backup point guard role with the Knicks. Unfortunately, it remains a dream dream for the Knicks fanbase.

After all, according to Stefan Bondy, Jokubaitis has already signed a new several-year contract with Bayern Munich to stay in Europe.

“It’s not anticipated, but… it doesn’t look like Locas is coming to the Knicks this season,” Bondy wrote to X.

Locas’ new deal with Munich is being reported until 2028. So, is it time for the Knicks Nations to stop hoping he will play in the NBA? most likely.
