The Los Angeles Lakers made headlines this summer after Mark Walter bought the team at a $10 billion valuation.

Given how Mark Walter changed the Los Angeles Dodgers in MLB, fans are hoping for a similar impact on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Walter bought the team at a historic $10 billion valuation, but Jeannie Bass is expected to remain governor of the franchise for at least the next five seasons.

In recent years, several NBA teams have experienced changes in ownership. Mark Cuba has sold a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks. Similarly, WYC Grousbeck sold its stake in the Boston Celtics.

Speaking of Cuba, it was reported that he has a say in the franchise decision until Patrick Dumont settled down as owner.

However, as we know, Cuban failed to stop the shocking Luka Donsic of the LA Lakers trade, the Dumonts quickly returned to their decision.

Groebeck seems to have learned from Cuba’s mistakes. After all, Grouseck was expected to remain as CEO and governor of the Celtics for the next three seasons.

However, a recent report by NBA insider Shams Charania shows Bill Chisholm will take over as the governor of the Celtics.

WYC Grousbeck will not remain governor as part of the Boston Celtics’ $6.1 billion sale to Birchsholm, telling sources. @Ramonashelburne. The plan was for Grousbeck to remain until 2028. Chisholm assumes the title of governor and the transfer will soon be confirmed.

Both Cuba and Grubeck failed to maintain the governor’s role after selling their majority stake in their respective organizations.

With that in mind, the Laker nation predicts that the same fate is awaiting Johnny Bass, the current governor of the team.

“It will be interesting to see if this works similarly for Lakers/Genie,” one fan wrote. Another was added, but “It’s something that should be kept in mind from Word as Jeanie will remain governor for five years. I don’t think that’s possible.”

“Clearly. Any conditions can be exempt or changed,” the third fan added.

“The same thing happens with the Jeannie Bass and the Lakers,” the fourth fan announced.

“Genie Bass, your day is numbered,” the fifth fan warned the current Lakers owner.

To be fair, it’s no surprise that new ownership wants to absolutely control the team after spending billions of purchases.
