Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
The 22-year-old will not be a regular starter for the Premier League champions, but will need to move on in search of normal game times.
Liverpool is not keen on Elliot’s transfer
According to Paul Ghost of Liverpool Echo, RB Leipzig is interested in signing players as a potential replacement for Zabi Simons. The Dutch International will join Tottenham Hotspur, and the German club hopes that Elliot will replace him.
However, Liverpool doesn’t want players to move on. They needed more quality and depth in the team and decided to hold the 22 year old. He is a versatile player and can be slotted into multiple offensive roles.
It will be interesting to see if the midfielder is willing to continue in Liverpool. There is no doubt that he needs to play more frequently at this stage of his career. He is a talented young player with a bright future. Sitting on the Liverpool bench is unlikely to benefit him. He may not get his usual game time even in the Premier League champions. They have enough quality and depth for the team, and they can only offer him the role of a squad player.
It is still unknown how the situation will develop.
Elliot needs a new start
Moving to Germany might have been ideal for him. Leipzig has been doing well for years to groom young players, and they managed to help him realize his incredible potential. The 22-year-old needs to focus on his development for now. If he can fulfill his potential, he has plenty of opportunities to play for elite clubs in the future.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool will change their stance before the transfer window closes.
