Piero Hincapie is set to become an Arsenal player due to an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to make the move.
Ecuador International joins the gunner on an initial loan agreement in a slightly more complicated transaction and makes some conflicting reports on whether there is an option or obligation to make the move permanent.
My understanding is that the purchase option is converted to a New Year’s purchase obligation.
Arsenal will pay Leverkusen a loan fee of 6 million euros, but the fixed transfer fee will not be paid until 2026.
Leverkusen initially denied the final contract. However, the numbers in the trade were clearly leaking (via the gunners), so they could accept the final counter offer. Therefore, the transfer must be completed as a transaction that has been completed immediately.

However, there is a catch in the numbers. Hincapy had a release clause of €60 million in the contract. The total number that Bundesliga Club refused to be upset and apparently it didn’t move in the end.
Hincapie and his agents have abandoned the percentage of players’ resale. Assuming a 10% rate, this would be 6 million euros.
The low transfer fees arising from player exemptions eliminate the resale fees negotiated by Hincapie’s former Argentine club AC Torres when it moved to Leverkusen in 2021. This is said to be 20% of the transfer profit. Bayer paid the Argentinians 6.4 million euros at the time.
There were other transfer jobs available at Hincapie
As revealed in my daily briefing column earlier this year, it always seemed Hincapy that Hincapy was one of the players leaving Leverkusen this summer.
Tottenham and Liverpool were also among the clubs interested in the 23-year-old, but Arsenal has more or less closed the deal.
As others have reported, Hincapy will receive his Arsenal medical care this weekend.
