According to journalist Sacha Tabolieri, French defender Axel Disasi will remain at Chelsea this season after a dramatic slow twist in his transfer situation.
The centre-back, who has been the subject of important speculation throughout the summer window, has approached sealing off his return to Monaco, which had already given his agreement to the French club.
There was also a specific interest from Bournemouth, but in the end, circumstances besides his direct control played a critical role.
Earlier this week, Disasi was reported to be leaning towards a move away from Stanford Bridge in search of a more consistent minute and an opportunity to reestablish himself in League One.

The negotiations appeared to be positively progressing as Monaco was preparing grounds for his return. Bournemouth also went into the frame, but the players’ preferences were clear and I wanted Monaco.
However, as Tavolieri explains, the deal began to unravel after Chelsea’s own team management issues. In particular, the Bruce were forced to reassess their stance after striker Nicholas Jackson’s loan to Bayern Munich was finalised.
