Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carager has been unwavering in criticism of Jadon Sancho, explaining that Manchester United Winger lacks “exceptional quality” despite his undeniable promise.
Speaking about the overlap show, Carragher appeared in Sancho’s overwhelming tenure at Old Trafford and his recent Lone Spell, highlighting his performance profile that remains surprisingly anonymous.
As reported by Mirror, Carragher said, even after 83 games, which contributed only 18 goals:
“Sancho has gained a reputation as Borussia Dortmund, so it’s interesting in Sancho.”
“Me and Gary (Neville) were on Sky Sports a few years ago and we didn’t see much of him, but he was really well done with Dortmund in the Champions League. We were asked to come up with an English team, and we didn’t let him in and got some sticks on social media.
“When you say he’s signing up as the worst guy for his abilities… I don’t know if there’s a lot of abilities out there. I think he’s fine, but I don’t know about him. I was critical of Marcus Rashford.
“I don’t know what Sancho’s thing is. Every player has something, but I can’t think of what he’s doing in my head. I’ve never seen it in my life.
Jadon Sancho failed to meet his potential at Man United
Sancho went into the scene with Borussia Dortmund, but his £73 million move to United marked the beginning of a career struggling to survive under the weight of expectations.
Winger’s league appearances are characterized by absent rather than influence, hampered by repeated fitness issues and inconsistent evaluations from bosses and critics.
Despite spending last season on loan and showing a flash of sparkle in stages, he was unable to find a consistent form, and along with his wage demands, it was the reason Chelsea is not pursuing a permanent move for him.
The player wanted to find his form at Aston Villa, a club he joined on loan this summer.
