Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has rejected a third contract offer from the club.
The 26-year-old French International finished his contract at the end of the season, and Liverpool was unable to agree to a new deal with him. Despite submitting multiple offers, players have not agreed to commit to the club for a long-term future.
According to Marca, the player turned down a third offer from the club and renewed his deal.
Will Conate leave for free?
It appears that players will be able to move on as free agents in the summer. He is deeply linked to his move to Real Madrid, and it will be interesting to see if he will move to La Liga in the coming months.
Losing players on a free transfer would be a devastating blow to the Premier League champions. They recently lost Trent Alexander Arnold to Real Madrid on a free transfer, and it appears that French International was able to quickly join his former teammate at the Spanish club.
Konate is an important player
Konate has been an important player for Liverpool since joining the club, and his exit will weaken them. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can properly replace him. They were heavily associated with Crystal Palace’s Mark Guech during the summer transfer window, but were unable to make the deal. It will be interesting to see if they decided to return to England International in January.
Conate is at the peak of his career and he is about to join a big club where he can win a big trophy. Real Madrid could provide him with the opportunity. They are widely regarded as the largest club in the world, and the opportunity to join them is very appealing to most players.
