Swiss right-back Isaac Schmidt, now available for loan at Leeds United’s Werder Bremen, has revealed that his ambition is to make the movement permanent.

After signing Leeds in August 2024 for around £2.5 million, Schmidt found it difficult to get first-team opportunities. Competition with Junior Furpo and Jayden Bogl for full-back slots during the 2024/25 season.
Isaac Schmidt is ready to leave Leeds United
As Leeds fights for promotional protection and squad depth, Schmidt’s spells for senior teams are limited, and he has not been able to establish himself regularly.

“I’m currently looking for an apartment so I can really settle in Bremen.” Schmidt told Build.
“I’d like to play for Welder for a long time. That’s my big goal. Of course I know a lot depends on my performance here.”
Schmidt got off to a bright start in the Bundesliga. He helped Bremen get off the bench in a 3-1 matchdown to Bayer Leverkusen and score within five minutes of getting on the pitch (out in the 71st minute and scoring on the 76th), helping to reduce the deficit. In the end, Bremen rescues deep in the time of injury.
Swiss International was impressed when they were given the chance
Schmidt’s performance in Bremen has not been overlooked at the international level. He won further call-ups to the Swiss national team and came out from the bench again with his recent victory.
From the pitch, Schmidt expressed his desire to settle in Bremen. He publicly states his intention to find an apartment there and his desire to stay beyond the loan, indicating that his desire for a permanent move is purely professional, but personal.
His shape in the Bundesliga continues to make an impression, coupled with his willingness to settle for Bremen, both the club and the player seem ready to make the move permanent.
