Manchester City has recently considered a player swap deal with Newcastle United, involving Tino Librament, as citizens search for long-term substitutions at right back.
According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, the Magpie was offered the opportunity to sign Manchester City’s Ricor Luis in a swap deal involving Livramento.
Since the departure of keyfullbacks like Joanne Cancello and Kyle Walker, City has had to adapt.
Pep Guardiola played the player from position in the right back position. Even today, the club’s right-back starts with Matheus Nunes, a naturally midfielder.

Young Academy graduate Rico Lewis is increasingly featured in an unconventional role, sometimes fullback, sometimes midfield, but whether he is the city’s long-term first choice in such a high-pressure position is questionable.
Librament appeared as one of Newcastle United’s most promising fullbacks. The former Chelsea Academy player who later moved to Southampton joined Newcastle in the summer of 2023.
At Newcastle, he played in more than 60 Premier Leagues, showing both defensive solidity and offensive promises. His contract will run until 2028, but Newcastle is reportedly preparing an improved deal to secure his future amid growing interest.

Both clubs were involved in discussions over swap transactions, but in the end the transaction did not come true, and both players remained with their respective clubs.
Since then, Lewis has signed a new long-term contract at Etihad Stadium. This is a deal that will keep him at the club until 2030.
Meanwhile, Librament stays at St. James Park and remains an important member of Newcastle’s starting lineup.
It remains to be seen whether Guardiola and his management team will rekindle interest in the Newcastle United star. Given his quality and performance, it could become a city’s option in the near future.
