West Ham United reportedly has created a list of potential managers who can take over the reins if Graham Potter is rejected, sources told Soccer Insider.
Former scout Mick Brown, who worked with the club, shows West Ham has made serious internal evaluations following a series of poor performances.
The current atmosphere at London Stadium is becoming more and more unstable. Catalyst appears to have been a 3-0 defeat for Tottenham Hotspur. This is the result of an intensive scrutiny of Potter’s tactics and recruitment and game management.
That loss is just part of the club’s inconsistency that has made both fans and club executives uneasy.
Despite the investment, Potter teams have not found leadership in key moments being questioned.
From Nuno Spirit Santo to West Ham United?
Brown believes Nuno, who was recently fired by Nottingham Forest, will be one of the candidates to replace West Ham’s Potter if Hierarchy decides to fire his manager.
“West Ham is looking at a few managers.” He told the soccer insider.
“Even if it’s not official, since Potter is still at work, they’ll have a list of names they believe can come to replace him.
“Nuno is on that list because of what he did in Nottingham Forest.
“He’ll be in the frame for the work that’s coming out.”
Graham Potter’s clock is ticking
Although West Ham reviews say they include several names, few people have made it public. One of the occasional names mentioned is Kieran McKenna, currently in Ipswichtown, but insiders suggest that there is little movement for him at the moment.
Speculation about former players, including West Ham legend Mark Noble, has temporarily gained traction among fans, but the club appears to see the option as a stop-gap rather than a long-term solution.
Potter is in charge for now, but West Ham United is clearly preparing for the possibility that management changes will be needed.
Nuno leads a pack of possible replacements for his impressive work in Forest, and he is someone who can stabilize the ship in these tough times if given the opportunity.
