The Spurs have Steffon Castle, who won the Rookie of the Year last season, and has the second pick for the 2025 NBA Draft Dylan Harper.
Harper is a Rutgers star and he has the kind of skill set that will make him an All-Star in the League one day.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst spoke about the Spurs situation on the Instagram thread. He said the Spurs are a playoff contender, but he questioned the team playing young security guards for minutes, like Harper.
“They are definitely playoff contenders.
“But if you play a young guard for minutes, you’re paying the learning curve price.
“In the league, there’s been a lot of excitement about Harper.”
Although Castle and Harper are younger, Fox is a veteran veteran and already shows that he can lead his team into the playoffs.
The Spurs, who have traded with Fox and then signed him on the extension, were a key move as they gave them an experienced player to rely on their team.
Not only can Fox help this team win at a high level, he can also serve as a mentor to Castle and Harper, preparing for a potential playoff push.
Castle has already come along well, and it’s only a matter of time before Harper shows that the spotlight isn’t too bright for him.
