Martin “disappointed” at Genk’s defeatWhat Thompson noticed about Martin in the Rangers’ defeat

After yet another Glasgow Rangers were defeated, former Scotland and Garth striker Stephen Thompson revealed he’s noticed about Russell Martin, the manager of Ibrox, who is lacking.

Martin “disappointed” at Genk’s defeat

The victory over Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup last weekend was billed by some as the start of Martin’s stunning turnaround, but many others thought it was simply a faint glow of hope. Now, as he watched his team have a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Zhenki in the Europa League, the pressure for the Rangers Manager is rising once again.

“There’s a bit of perspective tonight, and how difficult it was after the red card, because whether you like it or not, it changes a lot when you’re going to 10 for a long time in a European tie game.

“And prepare and play on Sunday and get ready to win. Losing is a disappointment. The red cards have changed the game a lot. We were looking forward to reaching halftime. There were some key points to help us perform.” (Martin on Genk’s defeat)

A 1-0 loss means that GERS won in four of the 14 games played during Martin’s tenure.

This weekend we’ll be turning to Rangers’ trip to Livingston. Losing it, they can move 12 points drifting through the 12 points of the Celtic leader, and even move levels at points alongside Bottom Side Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. That’s certainly true for Martin.

From Lomond’s trips to endless defeats, there have been many things to forget about the manager’s time so far.

What Thompson noticed about Martin in the Rangers’ defeat

Watching the manager explain to the press why his team was shorter again, this time claiming that Martin was “accepted” as the pressure continued to grow. He told BBC Sports:

“There was a lack of energy in Russell Martin’s press conference, and I could feel that it was reaching him. There’s acceptance there and I know he’s under pressure.”

He previously said he still has full support for the 49ers, but even Martin may know that defeat is too high now. Now, if the owner decides to pull the trigger in the coming weeks, the big issue is centered around his potential alternatives.

Names such as Steven Gerrard have found themselves in the headlines as a result, allowing them to freely return to management following previous contractual issues with Al-Etttifaq.

If you’re looking for a manager who knows how to put together the winning side in Ibrox, bringing the winner of the last Scottish premiership back to Ibrox is not exactly a bad idea.
