UFC Executive responds to reports that UFC Perth ticket sales are low

The UFC has maintained ticket sales for the UFC Perth event on Saturday are no problem.

A report from local news outlet 7News Australia said ticket sales are low, with RAC Arena saying “only half of them, tickets are currently on discount.” At a UFC Perth press conference, Dave Shaw, senior vice president of international business, was asked about the report.

“There’s no problem with this event,” Shaw said.

According to Chickettek, the company is used to sell and distribute tickets for events, but the events are certainly not sold out at the moment, but there are more tickets on sale than the report shows. Currently, tickets available range from $75 to $100, and the event is headlined by a key light heavyweight matchup between Sussing’s competitor Carlos Wulberg and two previous title challenger Dominic Reyes.

The show claims that the UFC continues to thrive in Australia and has been building things since it first appeared 15 years ago.

“I heard, from the start, we’ve had a long game with Australia and have seen it in the long run,” Shaw said. “I mentioned that I was the first to be in UFC 110 in 2010. I opened my office and played a long game in 2014…and in 2015 I held the biggest event in UFC history with Ronda (Rousey) and Holly (Holm) in Melbourne (Makhachev).

“We’ll be running for a long time in Australia. We know you’re a country of sports mads. For us, we often hear Dana talk about how MMA becomes the world’s biggest sport. Our perspective as one of the top markets we go to every year is that this is going to be a massive sport in this country. With this card, it’s more than we’ve ever had.”
