According to the latest report from Cricbuzz, the legendary Indian national cricket team defeated Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and is unimmunized by the whims of choice.
As the Ajit Agarkar-led Select Committee decided to strip the special privilege, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are no longer out of control in Indian cricket.

On Saturday, October 4th, India’s Cricket Committee (BCCI) announced Shubman Gill as the new ODI captain, dismissing Rohit Sharma despite his great success.
This was a huge surprise as Rohit Sharma often touched on the bat at India’s final ODI out, which appeared in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Rohit Sharma hit 76 runs in the summit crash, leading India to an astonishing title Triumph.
Rohit Sharma was fired as a skipper, but he was named to the ODI team on the Australian Tour along with Virat Kohli. They played under the leadership of Shubman Gill and will be the first since 2016 that Kohli and Rohit will perform together under another captain.
There are no special privileges for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Modern batting greats Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are present in the ODI team on the Australian Tour, but they no longer enjoy any special privileges.
With his retirement from T20I and Test, DUO is only available at the international level in ODI cricket. From now on, they will be treated the same as other players. This means that the flop show could lead to an exit from the setup.
“They may no longer be immune to the whims of choice — they no longer have any special privileges and may soon be subject to the same selection criteria as everyone else,” the Cricbuzz report read.
The AJIT Agarkar-led selection committee is uncommitted about the duo’s long-term future and lacks clarity about their participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
Age factor is against Virat Kohli of Rohit Sharma
The BCCI selection also considers the age factors of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who will be 40 and 39 by the start of the next World Cup. This clearly goes against them, and as the young people are waiting on their wings, the Select Committee may be seduced to give a chance to a new face.
“Sources show that planning for the 2027 World Cup over two stubborns is not easy,” the report adds, highlighting the lack of pre-competitive ODI matches.
Ajit Agarkar also sent a clear message to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play the Vijay Hazare trophy if they wanted to extend their international careers. The Chief Selector himself also reached out to Rohit to inform him of his decision to fire him, but we don’t know how he responded.
