According to sports, Barcelona is preparing to raise interest in Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck.
The Catalan giant has sold only left-footed centre-back (Inigo Martinez) this summer, saving money he made on his salary and opting to bring in additional cash, and believes the squad division will have enough cover for future challenges. But they seem to regret now that they didn’t take into account the fact that they left them without a particular profile player.
With Schlotterbeck fits that profile and his current contract is set to enter the final year at the end of this season, Barcelona clearly feels it’s time to act if they want to rank the 25-year-old German International. It is still unclear whether they will move in January or in the summer.
Schlotterbeck joined Dortmund in January 2022 from Freiburg for 20 million euros. He made 128 appearances in black and yellow, scoring six goals and producing 16 assists. He missed the start of the season through Meniscus issues and subsequent fitness accumulation, but he played full 90 minutes in the final three Bundesliga games on Nicocovac’s side.
