Steve Kerr says Golden State Warriors have found a replacement for Andrew Wiggins, admits 'Jimmy isn't one of them'

Steve Kerr believes the Golden State Warriors have a star who can replicate Andrew Wiggins’ contributions, but it’s not Jimmy Butler.

The Golden State Warriors are aiming to make the playoffs next season. After months of uncertainty, the Warriors have put together an impressive roster.

The Warriors have acquired impressive players such as Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Seth Curry. On top of that, their two-way stars LJ Cryer and Will Richard were very impressive.

Of course, Jimmy Butler’s presence on the Warriors makes a big difference. In fact, Stephen Curry believes Butler will make a difference and put them above the 2022 championship roster.

But there was one hole the Warriors were looking to fill this summer, and that was the one left by Andrew Wiggins. And even though Butler is a player with a similar profile, he’s just not the right guy for the job.

Steve Kerr spoke highly of Moses Moody after the Golden State Warriors’ preseason win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Similar to Moody’s heroics against the Lakers, the young star had another solid performance on both ends of the court, and Coach Kerr believes he showed why he can fill the role that Andrew Wiggins filled before his departure.

“He had to protect the ball. He moved into the starting lineup and became our point-of-attack defender, like Wiggs before him.”

“And with Wiggs gone, it leaves a hole on this team because Jimmy is not like that.”

Moody slowly developed into a strong two-way player for the Warriors, earning him a spot on the team with his play.

Earlier this summer, Moses Moody underwent surgery for a torn UCL in his right thumb. And oddly enough, Moody credits the injury with making him focus more on his release, which helped improve his shot.

Moody became a mainstay on the Warriors team. In fact, Steve Kerr prefers to play Moses Moody as a starter considering what Moody brings to the team.

If Moody continues to perform at this high level, the Warriors will make him a key player on the team not only now but for years to come.

His most important contribution is on defense, where he is becoming the Warriors’ primary point of attack defender, especially against quick guards. Moody’s strong performance there could be crucial for the team next season.
