Australian national cricket team captain Mitchell Marsh has urged his teammates to prepare well for the challenging white-ball series against the Indian national cricket team.
Mitchell Marsh said the players of the Australian national cricket team had great respect for the stars of the Indian national cricket team and that the two teams had a great rivalry.

Australia will host India in a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series from October to November 2025. Perth Stadium will host the opening ODI series on October 19, with the next two matches scheduled to be held in Adelaide and Sydney on October 23 and 25. Thereafter, T20I matches are scheduled to be held at five different venues on October 29, 31, November 2, 6 and 8.

After the India series, Australia will host England’s national cricket team in a high-octane Ashes series over November, December and January.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh said the Australians love playing against India and come into the series at the perfect time ahead of the 2026 Ashes and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
“We’re all going to step up for the Ashes, but everyone is enjoying playing against India,” he told foxsports.com.au.
“We have a great rivalry as a team and I have a lot of respect for them. I think it’s literally perfect timing to play India for the Ashes series. It’s going to be big.”
Mitchell Marsh to lead Australia in Pat Cummins’ absence
Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the entire white-ball series against India as he continues to recover from a hip strain. Australian selectors also announced the ODI squad for the three-match series and the T20I squad for the first two matches only.
In the absence of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc will return to the team while Mitchell Marsh will continue to lead the ODI series. Matt Renshaw has been recalled and is set to make his ODI debut.
However, Marnus Labuschagne was dropped from the ODI squad after a horror show with the bat in the last 10 innings.
Mitchell Owen has also been named for his ODI debut, while Cameron Green is expected to play in the 50-over match against India but is not part of the T20I squad. On the contrary, Sean Abbott has been named in the T20I squad but not in the ODI squad.
Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell missed out on selection in the T20I squad due to injury but is hoping to recover in the remaining three games.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be seen in action
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were in the Indian ODI squad, but the former was removed as captain and Shubman Gill took his place.
In another major development, Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain for ODIs following his success in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with three different teams.
