Warren Abrahams, former head coach of the Wales women’s team, has died at the age of 43.
Abrahams, who coached Wales from November 2020 to July 2021, died in Kenya, where she was coaching the Belgian women’s sevens team.
Belgian Rugby said in a statement: “The Belgian Rugby community is mourning the sudden death of Bell Sevens coach Warren Abrahams. At the time of his passing, Warren was in Kenya with the Belgian Women’s Sevens team to compete in the Safari 7s tournament.”
The Welsh Rugby Union wrote in a post on X: “Everyone involved in Welsh Rugby sends their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Warren Abrahams.”
Premiership Rugby club Harlequins said in a statement: “Everyone at Harlequins is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of former academy coach Warren Abrahams.”
“Warren made a lasting impact on the club during his time in the academy from 2011 to 2019. His passion, leadership and commitment to player development was felt not only at Harlequins but across the wider rugby community throughout his distinguished career.”
“Our thoughts are with Warren’s family, friends and loved ones and we extend our deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time.”
