Luka Doncic immediately issued some instructions after Austin Reeves was injured against the Golden State Warriors.
The Los Angeles Lakers may have reason to panic now. In the third preseason game against the Golden State Warriors, Austin Reeves appeared to be injured.
Up until that point, Reeves had been playing extremely well, scoring 21 points in 22 minutes and shooting an impressive 70 percent from the field.
However, a collision with defensive end Brandin Podzemski injured his right knee and ankle and potentially bruised his left ankle.
The Lakers immediately called a timeout, and Reeves received some stern instructions from Luka Doncic while sitting on the bench.
As mentioned above, Austin Reeves suffered a severe bruise while playing against the Golden State Warriors.
During a timeout, as Reaves sat on the bench holding his leg, Luka Doncic turned to him and asked him to end the night.
“Okay, that’s enough.”
The Lakers then ruled Reaves out of returning to the game, placing him on back-track to have the injury treated and further evaluated.
A possible injury to Reaves in the offseason could be disastrous and make the Lakers’ problems even worse heading into Opening Day.
If Reaves’ injury proves to be even remotely serious, he will be on the sideline with LeBron James, who is also currently sidelined.
Luka Doncic admitted the Lakers will have to work harder to make up for what they’re missing without LeBron.
Adding Reaves to the group of players the Lakers need to supplement will not end well for the Lakers.
Hopefully this is just a mild shock. Either way, the Lakers should take note and sit Reeves until the end of the preseason.
