Kevin Durant's agent warns of Houston Rockets star's retirement plans

The 2025-26 NBA season will be Kevin Durant’s 18th year in the NBA.

After a disappointing tenure with the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant will be hoping for a better stint with the Houston Rockets.

Durant is still an elite player, but let’s not forget he’s already 37 years old. So, is Slim Reaper thinking of calling it quits?

Joining the Rockets may seem like Durant’s last-ditch effort to win his third career NBA championship, but that’s not the case, according to his agent Rich Kleiman.

In fact, KD hasn’t even talked to his agent about possibly retiring from the NBA.

“Three times a day, we talk for maybe six minutes total, but in those three conversations a day, we never talk about when we’re going to end or when we think we’re going to hang up.

“I think what’s obviously happened across the sports world over the last 10 years or so is that players have gotten older when they think it’s time to quit,” Kleiman said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Kleiman then cited the examples of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and older NBA stars who are still elite despite being well past their 30s.

“…You look at LeBron, but you also have James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Steph, KD. They’re still elite,” he added.

While LBJ’s retirement remains a hot topic, it sometimes shortens the impressive longevity of his colleagues. Either way, it’s safe to assume that KD isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Durant may indulge in calling out fans on social media from time to time, but that doesn’t mean the Rockets star isn’t focused on his craft.

Kleiman revealed that Durant still loves spending time in the gym and loves his journey in the NBA.

“He loves going to the gym, he loves traveling. As long as he loves it, as long as he’s healthy, he’ll keep playing. I think (retirement) is still a long way off,” Kleiman continued.

“He just turned 37, but I think 37 now is like 32 years old,” the super agent concluded.

Advances in modern medicine have certainly helped stars advance their NBA careers in the modern era.

This is ultimately good news for NBA fans, as they will be able to witness the greatness of their superstars for longer than ever before.
