Manchester United midfielder Koby Mainu reportedly still faces an uncertain future as manager Ruben Amorim is reluctant to use him and Bruno Fernandes in the same team.

The Red Devils are going through a difficult period with Amorim’s methods not working as expected, but it’s puzzling that he didn’t make more use of a top young talent like Mainu during this period.

One problem, according to the Daily Mail, is that Amorim has not yet shown any desire to use Mainu and Fernandes in midfield at the same time.

To be fair, it’s easy to see why Amorim’s current structure would make this partnership difficult.

It might make more sense for a defensive player like Casemiro or Manuel Ugarte to line up with an attacking player like Fernandes. Because an offensive player like Fernandez is probably too good to be dropped.

Should Koby Mainu leave Manchester United?

All in all, this probably points to the only solution for Mainoo, and that is to leave Old Trafford as soon as possible.

MUFC may want the England international to stick around and add depth to their squad, but he is certainly too good to be on the bench so often.

There will also be a number of top clubs ready to give Mainu a key role, as the 20-year-old showed great potential during his previous spell with United.

All of this will certainly make worrying reading for United fans, as losing such a born-again player would be highly controversial if he continued to shine elsewhere.

Amorim may feel that his system is worth sticking to, but if results and performances continue to be poor, and if that means forcing a promising player out of the club, it will become increasingly difficult to convince those around him of this.
