Manchester United central midfielder Koby Mainu continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with former Red Devils ace Wes Brown commenting on the situation.
The former Man Utd defender is a fan of Mineo but has barely featured this season and is unsure of what his future holds at Old Trafford.
For whatever reason, Mainu has struggled to establish himself in Ruben Amorim’s United squad, with the Daily Mail being among the outlets reporting on his departure in January.
Brown acknowledged in an interview with Metro that Mainu needs to play, but it’s hard to know for sure how this story will end.
Coby Mainu ‘will be very disappointed’, says former Man United player Wes Brown
Brown spoke about the Mainu situation and admitted that it was unfortunate that Amorim refused to use him.
The former Red Devil also suggested that he thinks it is a waste of talent, given that the 20-year-old looked such an elite prospect when he first broke into the first team.
“He’s going to be very disappointed with how the season has played out because he needs to play football,” Brown said.
“Fitness-wise, he’s certainly not at his absolute peak yet. 24, 25, 26 (years old) is when he really comes into his own physically. But at the same time, he’s talented and we all know he’s talented.”
“The World Cup is coming up and he will want to take part in it, but he will need to play football. We don’t know what will happen from here.”
Where next for Koby Mainu?
Even if Mainoo were to leave United in the near future, there would be no shortage of suitors.
Chelsea have recently been linked with Maynou by TEAMtalk, and the Blues have previous experience in attacking MUFC, having signed Alejandro Garnacho this summer and Jadon Sancho last year.
Meanwhile, an earlier report in the Mail named a long list of clubs interested in Mainu in the summer, including Napoli, Roma, Aston Villa and Everton.
