Sanju Samson has already expressed his desire to part ways with Rajasthan Royals (RR) after a difficult IPL 2025 season. Immediately after the season ended in June, Samson is said to have informed team management of his decision to explore new opportunities.

Delhi Capitals (DC) are targeting Sanju Samson to strengthen their squad, a Times of India reporter has reported. Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who joined the Capitals last season, is reportedly on Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) radar for a potential leadership role.
Sanju Samson likely to join Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals, who are looking for a new captain after Rishabh Pant’s departure to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), are reportedly in talks with Samson for the captain’s role ahead of IPL 2026. Talks are ongoing and both sides are reportedly keen on the move.
Notably, Samson had already played for the Delhi-based franchise in the IPL before joining RR. Previously, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had shown interest in Samson, but the team rejected it after Rajasthan Royals reportedly asked for either Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad in return.
KKR eyes KL Rahul in trade talks ahead of IPL auction
Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who had a great season with DC in IPL 2025, is reportedly being targeted by Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR is reportedly keen to acquire Rahul’s services and has sent scouts to do so. The reason behind this was the right-hander’s stellar performance in IPL 2025, where he scored 539 runs at a strike rate of close to 150.

Well, KKR is reportedly interested in acquiring Rahul through a trade deal and is even considering making him the captain. They are eyeing Rahul as an opening batsman and wicketkeeper.
However, DC has no intention of parting ways with Rahul and has reportedly rejected KKR’s cash and Rovman Powell offers. Delhi considers Rahul to be a key player and have no plans to release him.

Notably, the IPL 2026 auction is likely to be held between December 13th and 15th. Although the IPL Governing Council has not officially announced the date, this is the expected duration of the auction. Meanwhile, the deadline for players to remain is November 15th.
