Liverpool, who continue to look for further reinforcements, are reported to have made an opening offer to sign the 16-year-old and another young star who has been compared to Morgan Rodgers.
Liverpool’s transfer targets for 2026
Their bank balance may still be recovering from their £400m spending spree in the summer, but Liverpool are already considering Arne Slott and his team’s potential targets for 2026. Despite twice breaking Liverpool’s transfer record, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are far from done with their project.
A recent slump in form, with three straight defeats in all competitions, has for the first time raised questions about Slot’s reign and questions that could be answered in the transfer window.
For example, the Reds clearly need a centre-back. Unless something changes between now and the summer, Liverpool will lose Ibrahima Konate on a free contract at the end of his contract. That would leave the team with only three senior centre-backs: Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and young Giovanni Leoni.
Given Van Dijk’s expected departure in 2027, Gomez’s injury-prone nature and Leoni’s return from a long spell on the sidelines, Anfield officials are likely to look to the market for reinforcements in that area.
In that regard, Marc Guehy remains a name Liverpool were reportedly considering signing within hours of confirming his arrival in the summer. But this time around, a back-up option will be needed, with the Crystal Palace defender attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid as his contract expires.
Ahead of that, Edwards and Hughes reportedly have their sights set on the team’s future in the slot, with reports suggesting Liverpool have made an offer to sign the impressive young duo.
Liverpool submit offer to sign Palmer twins
The Boot Room’s Graham Bailey reports that Liverpool have made contract offers for Anton and Bailey Palmer. The 16-year-old twins recently announced their decision to leave Middlesboro and have not been short of options since.
As well as Liverpool, he is also said to have offers from Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. It is no exaggeration to say that they are being forced to make big decisions.
Both are incredibly impressive young players. Anton, a midfield talent, flourished for Boro and made two appearances in Premier League 2, while fellow midfielder Bailey has been compared to Aston Villa’s Rodgers.
Liverpool, who won the race to sign Will Wright from Salford in the summer, will do everything in their power to beat out the likes of Man City and sign the Palmer twins.
