Newcastle United have accepted an offer for highly talented defender Josh Kensington.
Newcastle are paying around £350,000 to sign the 15-year-old central defender from Barnsley, according to Keith Downey. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in the player, but Newcastle beat them out in the race for his signature.
Josh Kendington could be a long-term asset
Kensington is highly regarded across England and has a bright future ahead of him. With the right guidance, he could develop into a first-team player for Newcastle. They will be delighted to have secured his services. They are looking to build a team for the future and signing the best young player in the country is a step in the right direction.
On the other hand, the 15-year-old will also be happy to have joined a big club. Newcastle have an ambitious project, competing in the UEFA Champions League and winning trophies. Any young player will want to participate in his project. It will be interesting to see if he can continue his development in regular football, currently at youth level with Newcastle.

The 15-year-old English defender would have been a great addition for them in the long term. Manchester United and Tottenham would also have been attractive destinations for the young defender.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have yet to receive permission from the Premier League and the deal will only be completed afterwards. The 15-year-old will then join the Newcastle Academy.
