All eyes will be on Anfield this weekend as Liverpool welcome historic rivals Manchester United to the red half of Merseyside in what will be a heavyweight showdown in the Premier League.

Sunday’s hosts may have burst onto the scene at the start of the new season, but the reigning Premier League champions have fallen to earth in alarming fashion and are looking for a decisive boost here.

The Red Devils may have gone into October’s two-week interval with a must-win 2-0 home win over top-flight newcomers Sunderland, but Ruben Amorim still feels he has a lot of boiling pressure on his shoulders.

Ahead of Sunday afternoon’s big Premier League battle, we’ve taken a look at some of the most appealing Liverpool vs Manchester United bet builder tips.

Liverpool require significant response

Liverpool may have stormed to a historic 20th domestic title last season at Anfield in Arne Slott’s first managerial role, but Sunday’s hosts entered the October international break in the midst of a public rut.

The Reds are in desperate need of a much-welcomed boost here after a fortnight’s break with one final heartbreak against Chelsea and a final 2-1 defeat in west London.

Liverpool ended September with a further 2-1 defeat away to Crystal Palace, having lost their last three appearances by an aggregate score of 5-2 in all competitions.

However, he is seen as a strong candidate to defend his Premier League title again this season, and the former Feyenoord manager will be thrilled to return to the red half of Merseyside on Sunday afternoon.

In fact, Liverpool have won their first five home games in all competitions by a combined score of 12-6, including a 1-0 victory over title rivals Arsenal on August 31st.

Problems along the way continue to plague United

Manchester United may have entered the October international break with a commanding 2-0 win at home to Premier League newcomers Sunderland, but Amorim’s long-term future remains a big topic of discussion.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager may have only taken charge at Old Trafford 11 months ago, but Amorim has failed to provide any consistency and Sunday’s guests travel to Anfield this weekend, languishing in the bottom half of the table.

United, who suffered an infamous EFL Cup exit at the hands of League Two side Grimsby on August 27, continue to earn a reputation for glaring problems on the road.

Amorim’s side lost their last game away to Brentford 3-1 at Old Trafford, and have now lost their last three consecutive away games in all competitions.

It should also be highlighted that the Red Devils have scored three goals in each of their last three away matches, including a 3-0 win over arch-rivals Man City last month.

Pay attention to Gakpo

Liverpool may have broken a string of financial records over the summer when they welcomed the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak to Anfield, but it is yet another attacking superstar who has stolen much of the praise in the second half on Merseyside.

There may have been a lot of speculation about Kodi Gakpo’s future at Anfield during the summer transfer window following significant interest from German giants Bayern Munich, but the 26-year-old has played a leading role this season.

Gakpo, who reached double figures last season after scoring 10 goals in the Premier League, has made a good start and will be confident of testing Manchester United’s incredibly leaky defence.

The former PSV star, who suffered a defeat away to Chelsea earlier this month, also had an excellent fortnight against the Netherlands.

Gakpo, who scored three World Cup qualifying goals in two games for the Dutch national team, has scored nine direct contributions for club and country so far this season.
