The Golden State Warriors waived L.J. Cryer, who was very impressive in the preseason, and fans are shocked to see him released.

The Golden State Warriors used the preseason to try to solidify their roster and rotation, testing out some young players in the process.

One name that immediately came up was L.J. Cryer, who was signed during the Warriors’ summer league. The undrafted rookie performed well when given the chance.

Steve Kerr praised L.J. Cryer multiple times during the preseason as he became an integral part of the Warriors’ team.

Cryer was confident in his chances with the Warriors. But it turns out that confidence may have been unfounded, as the Warriors announced they would waive him ahead of the new season.

Yesterday, the Golden State Warriors announced they were waiving Seth Curry and L.J. Cryer in order to finalize their roster ahead of the NBA deadline.

Some Warriors fans were shocked and upset by this situation, feeling that the Warriors wasted a great player.

One die-hard Warriors fan wrote, “We’re firing Cryer, but we’re keeping Pat Spencer. I hope it makes sense.”

Another fan went a step further and said, “LJ Cryer looked like he was better than 90% of the roster with 10 minutes per game and they still fired him.”

A Warriors fan made an emotional appeal to the team, saying, “Why?! He’s a really solid player, he has great control of the game, he shoots threes better and more consistently than most guys out there.”

Another fan warned that the Warriors were making a mistake, noting, “Losing Cryer was a big mistake. He can actually dribble, score, pass, and defend.”

One Warriors fan echoed this sentiment, saying, “It was a big mistake to let Cryer go. That player is a ball player.”

It’s understandable that Golden State Warriors fans would be upset about the team cutting L.J. Cryer, considering his performance in the preseason.

However, it’s possible the Warriors still plan to keep him. One option for the Warriors is to sign L.J. Cryer to the G League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors.

Cryer will have a chance to get consistent playing time in the G League and hopes to earn a two-way contract next season. Alternatively, he could be called up later in the season and receive a guaranteed contract.

This is definitely a possibility, considering the Warriors plan to re-sign Seth Curry in November after waiving him as a salary cap workaround.
