Nottingham Forest’s search for a new manager could spell bad news for Manchester United, it has been reported, following yesterday’s sacking of manager Ange Postecoglou.
According to the newspaper, Fulham manager Marco Silva is one of Forest’s shortlisted candidates to replace Postecoglou.
However, Football Insider claims that it is also known that Ruben Amorim is probably not that safe at Man United, which is why Silva has previously been on the shortlist.
The Red Devils don’t seem to be that close to sacking Amorim so far, but it will be interesting to see how long he is sidelined after another rather poor start to the season.
Forest manager’s focus on Silva may persuade United to move more quickly as they risk missing out on the candidate they believe is the best candidate to replace Amorim.
What’s next for Marco Silva, who has done a strong job at Fulham?
Silva has done a fantastic job at Craven Cottage and it is no surprise that he is attracting interest from ambitious clubs.
The Portuguese tactician could certainly make a positive impact at a big club like United, but it is no wonder he is seen as someone who could take Forest forward.
The season got off to a tough start at the City Ground, with Postecoglou losing his job after just 39 days in charge and Nuno Espirito Santo receiving a rather harsh sacking at the start of the season.
Postecoglou’s style of play clearly looked like the wrong choice for Forest, and Silva may be a manager with a similar style to Nuno.
