Dillon Brooks will begin a new chapter in his career during the 2025-26 NBA season.

The Houston Rockets have decided to part ways with Dillon Brooks after two years with the team, as he was traded to the Phoenix Suns.

The addition of Brooks is a big change for the Suns as they move on from the Kevin Durant experiment. Brooks doesn’t have a great reputation, but he’s already become an integral part of the Suns.

Devin Booker previously praised Brooks, and now head coach Jordan Ott is doing the same heading into the 2025-26 season.

Brooks’ most notable qualities are his defense and ability to get inside opponents’ heads. Obviously, it’s going to be a tough matchup against the 29-year-old.

As for his strength, Ott recently revealed that Brooks brings that personality into his training sessions.

“His intensity comes through every day. If you watch us practice, he has it too. It’s not just in the game,” Ott told the media.

He added, “I’ve been around guys that only bring it in the game. He brings it every day in practice. I think he drags some guys down.”

“I think there are players who probably don’t, but they practice so hard every day. He develops everyone.”

This increased intensity will help the players develop great chemistry and boost morale heading into the new season.

In the past, Brooks has bitten off more than he can chew. For example, LeBron James’ trash talk during the 2023 NBA Playoffs backfired for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Despite this, Brooks still showed his strength after the Suns’ recent preseason win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

But what does Coach Ott think about Brooks’ consistent whine? Well, he loves it.

“You’ve got to sit there and smile. That helps our group. When he’s going back and forth with somebody, we’re in a good spot,” the Suns head coach said.

Simply put, Ott wants Brooks to be his usual self, which will help bond Suns players closer together heading into the regular season.
