Milwaukee Bucks star Bobby Portis said he would like to give one of the stars of the team’s training camp another chance.
For players desperate to make an NBA roster, this period can be unforgiving.
Just ask Chris Livingston, who is currently a free agent. He played in the Milwaukee Bucks’ win over the Detroit Pistons in the preseason, but then shocking news regarding his future broke.
The Bucks decided to waive Livingston after signing Alex Antetokounmpo, leaving room on their roster.
One of Livingston’s recent teammates is keen to give him another chance.
Milwaukee Bucks veteran Bobby Portis said he was sad to see Chris Livingston cut after a positive training camp.
Portis told Run It Back TV that he feels Livingston should have been on the Bucks’ roster.
He said: “One of the players who was let go that I would like to give a little love to is Chris Livingston.
“I think he should have been on the roster. He’s a great, great talent. He just needs to understand the system and which team he can fit into. He’s going to have a great career.”
“He’s definitely going to get another chance somewhere.”
The Milwaukee Bucks selected Chris Livingston with the 58th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
He spent time with the G League team, appearing in 42 regular season games and two playoff games in the 2023-24 season.
The former Kentucky star is only 23 years old and will likely return to the NBA during the season and earn a new contract at some point.
Having an experienced pro like Bobby Portis come along and vouch for him is the most important recommendation that will help his cause.
